Mamady Keita is possibly the best known teacher in Europe and America
He is the Guinean founder of Tam Tam Mandingue in Brussels and ex first soloist of the Guinean National Ballet / Ballet Joliba.
This book contains a wealth of information on life in old Guinea and the Malinke people in relation to their surrounding area and history. which allows the reader a greater appreciation of the notes given for the individual rhythms.
No basic instruction is given, but about 60 rhythms are presented (some with regional variations) in a fairly easy to follow notation developed by Billmeier, (but printed very small on the page).
20 rhythms are presented on the CD, with djembe and bass drum parts.
Contact details are given for the Tam Tam Mandingue school in Brussels, and for accredited teachers in other countries.
