- Knock on Wood and African music have a long association. I first heard a recording of Zimbabwean mbira music back in 1972 and was instantly hooked by the hypnotic polyrhythms and beautiful melodies. Later, the music of Africa became an essential element of our first shop under Leeds railway station and continues as a strong theme in our Leeds shop and on the internet site
- We now offer a large range of African percussion, much of it sourced from a Ghanaian fair trade co-operative which we visited in 1994. These include talking drums, kpanlogo drums, kayamba, kass kass, gankogui, apitua, xylophones, balafons and a large range of kalimbas including the fabulous sansula
