Description
Our percussion shells have their musical origins on the Atlantic coast of Spain, in Galicia, where they are still used in traditional music today, and there are indications that this extraordinary type of shell was used by many Celtic groups on the Atlantic coast as a percussion instrument . This is not surprising, because incredible effects can be created with the two mussel shells.
Since each case flap is naturally covered with delicate rows of scales, they are ideal for rubbing together, gently tapping or hitting lightly. We have selected particularly firm and finely ribbed shells for you, which allow for many playing options, from a delicate rustling sound to a large güiro sound. Due to the pronounced curvature, you can create a resonance chamber together with the palm of your hand, which gives the sound an unexpected volume, which is characterized by a high assertiveness.
