The Xequeiro connects the sound of a shekeré with the playing technique of a shaker (ganza).
An aluminium tube is the sound- and resonance body, just like with a shaker. But instead of filling it with seeds, pebbles or metal beads and closing it like a container, a net with plastic beads is braided over the outside of the xequeiro. Both ends of the tube remain open. The aluminium ends are covered with soft and comfy foam rubber so you can hold it properly.
