The short hard wood beater is the perfect size for the surdo de terceira. Are you ready for this handy little devil? Head and handle are made of hard wood, the head is hardly padded - ideal for a furious rebound and the typical sound on natural heads.

A shallow Ivsom tarol snare drum. The tarol is usually carried on a one-hook shoulder strap (half-high) and is played slightly lateral underneith the armpit, or emcima. It has a high dynamic range with 6 tuning lugs and 6 guitar string snares.

Repiniques are mainly used as a lead or solo drum with a high tone and are generally associated with the baterias of Rio de Janeiro and with Afro-Brazilian carnival music.

For those unfamiliar Ivsom are musicians and makes of Samba from Rio. Gaining increasing popularity for their workmanship and brilliant sound these instruments are made to play. They have an easy to spot distinct style that incorporates slightly industrial finishes along with brass fitting which make for some eye catching instruments, that take nothing away from their high quality sound!
Towards the end of last year I had the pleasure of visiting their workshop and now you can enjoy the fruits of my trip!
