With more than a full octave, this instrument goes way beyond its visual appeal. It’s percussive, melodic, and lovely to play. It uses gourds on the underside to amplify the natural sound and comes with 2two primitive but charming beaters. From the Gambia on the West coast of Africa.  Known locally as a balafon.
